Maldives : climate and when to go to Male

The climate of the Maldives reflects a perfect image: sunny days, nights winded by trade winds, and mild and calm mornings. The temperature of the air is almost constant, oscillating between 84°F and 88°F throughout the year. The sun therefore heats up every day with an average temperature of about 86°F Celsius, a happiness against rheumatism.

The Maldives has two distinct seasons: the dry season from December to April and the wet season from mid-May to November. Thunderstorms are rare in the Maldives but rather occur during the monsoon months, breaking the perpetual heatwave. Warm temperatures allow you to go for a walk in the rain, or even bathe in the warm Indian Ocean water at 84°F all year round, but watch out for thunderstorms!

The Maldives are beach destinations, snorkeling (mask, snorkel, fins), diving in bottles and other nautical activities if the lagoon allows. Do not expect to rent a car, visit museums, think only of your beach towel and your sunscreen. There are a few excursions to fishing or inhabited islands and you will have to wear a uniform compatible with Islam so as not to shock the locals. Attention to the sun positioned at the zenith in Maldives, it is very strong and radiates to the maximum. Sunburns through the hair is a rare experience but one can remember for a long time.

When to go? The hottest month for the beach, lazing around and swimming is May. Check the precipitations because heavy showers may occur, otherwise other periods are possible. The coolest month is January, if you can not stand the heat too much. The driest month of the year is February, if you do not like the rain at all.
